Feature: An Evergreen Christmas | Short Film: Check Please | Q&A With Cast

An aspiring musician must return home to help save the small Christmas tree farm she grew up on, only to find her true musical roots along the way.

Evergreen Lee thought it would be a quick trip home: a funeral, a few well wishers, hang around for a couple days to help her grandfather and younger brother, then head back to Los Angeles. What she didn’t expect to find in tiny Balsam Falls, TN was an impending estate tax jeopardizing her family’s home and a large Christmas tree conglomerate with their sights on the family farm. Now, Evergreen must chose between two very different paths – go back to her “Hollywood” life and once again leave those who truly care about her or stay in Tennessee, face her fears, and rediscover her musical roots. With a hilarious cast of characters in tow, each day brings new adventures as she reconnects to country life and tries to make sense of a world that has been turned upside down.

Charleene Closshey

Film star, Broadway actor and classically trained musician (composer/violinist/vocalist), Charleene Closshey debuted on stage at the tender age of two. She started playing the piano and read music at that age and spent much of her childhood learning how to play different instruments, including the flute, clarinet, harp, and viola.

After receiving her BS from Florida Southern College in 2002, she continued her artistic education at Juilliard School, New York University, and Berklee College of Music.

Starring in the feature film “An Evergreen Christmas”, her charisma and Southern charm bring to life a struggling musician’s journey to express her own voice. Also starring Naomi Judd (The Judds), Robert Loggia (Scarface), and Booboo Stewart (Twilight Saga), Charleene both co produced and composed the musical score for this fresh holiday favorite. On the big screen, Charleene has appeared in “A Thousand Cuts” (from the executive producers of “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby”), “Terminal Kill”, and the art film “Walking with Francis” where her graceful portrayal of the woman who would become St. Clare won rave U.S. and international reviews.

Charleene made her Broadway debut in the Tony-Award winning musical “Once” in the Jacobs Theatre, the same stage James Dean premiered on Broadway sixty years prior. She starred in, produced, and composed the score of “Feather: A Musical Portrait,” which premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Festival 2013. Additional theatre credits include “Nine,” “Hair,” “The Wild Party,” “Jekyll & Hyde” and the U.S. premiere of “A Night at the Oscars,” among others. Charleene’s ambient chart-topping album “Glimpse” is featured in yoga/meditation classes worldwide. Her chic violin stylings landed her onstage beside Josh Groban, the TransSiberian Orchestra, and Frank Sinatra, Jr.; she’s even dueled fiddles with legendary country artist Charlie Daniels on more than one occasion.
